Curator Talk: The Making of Cosmonauts

24 September, 2015 @ 2:00 am - 3:00 pm

Back in 2008 the Science Museum’s Space Curator had mentioned in a passing conversation that it would be great to bring the first type of manned spacecraft – the Soviet Vostok – to the museum. At the time he was planning an anniversary event around the Museum’s United States’ Apollo 10 command module.

That chance remark started a chain of events leading to the opening of the most significant exhibition of Soviet and Russian space artefacts ever staged outside Russia.

In this talk Doug Millard, Senior Curator of Cosmonauts, tells the story of how this was achieved and why it was so important.

The talk includes entry to the Cosmonauts exhibition.
