Authors for Animals – Andrew Motion ‘Consider the Seahorse’

29 April, 2015 @ 6:30 pm

Opening the 2015 Authors for Animals programme former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion considers the seahorse – a creature with a rich mythical history, whose existence is beautiful, mysterious, and yet precarious.

Introduced by the poet Jo Shapcott, the event will also feature a ZSL aquarist talking about seahorse habits and husbandry and a ZSL conservationist working on Project Seahorse supporting species and marine habitats worldwide.

Andrew Motion responds imaginatively to these creatures, reading from his poetry about this curious, beguiling genus Hippocampus, and giving us his own take on their importance to humanity. The event begins with a drinks reception at 6.30pm, and a chance to look around the aquarium.

This event is in association with the Royal Society of Literature.
