Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be part of a 132 piece Orchestra? For 6 weeks this summer you can find out…
The Science Museum and the Philharmonia Orchestra have teamed up to host a major new digital installation ‘Universe of Sound: The Planets’. This interactive experience re-creates the feeling of being part of an orchestra, using state of the art technology including: touch screens, movement-based interaction and planetarium-style projection.
The installation is made up of a series of ten interconnected spaces each representing a different section of the orchestra. In the final room you get to experience a giant 360 degree projection of the Orchestra performing The Planets conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Try your hand as a musician, conductor or even a composer by playing along to the music with the virtual and real instruments dotted throughout the exhibit. You can also talk to Philharmonia musicians who will also be present every day throughout the installations duration.
