Stephanie Sammann on roasting marshmallows at the Pacaya volcano in Guatemala

Stephanie Sammann Pacaya Volcano_1024wSteam rises from the base of Pacaya Volcano in Guatemala. Pacaya is an active volcano, which first erupted approximately 23,000 years ago. After being dormant for a century, it erupted violently in 1965 and has been erupting continuously since then.

After roasting marshmallows in the heat of the vents, I took this photo. Although it looks like it has been edited to black and white this is a full color image.

Stephanie Sammann is studying for an MSc in Science Media Production
