In Coffee+Chat, we ask Imperial College scientists to explain their research. This episode features material scientists Dr Ainara Aguadero talking about her field and her own work.
So what is material science? Dr Aguadero introduces it as “the study of all the things we have around us … it could be almost anything.”

More specifically, Dr Aguadero specialises in the use of ionic conducting ceramics in energy devices. Her work in designing materials with improved properties is built on studying the relationship between the defect structure and the transport, electrochemical, and catalytic properties of ceramics.

Read Dr Aguadero’s research here, and go to the I, Science YouTube Channel for more videos.

I,Science Coffee+Chat is produced by Science Communication/Science Media Production MSc students Angel Li, Jamie Brown and Sophie Louise Hull.
