Timeless: Making it Work in the Workplace
2 March, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Despite some social changes, combining work and motherhood is still a challenge for contemporary women. Apple and Facebook have responded by offering egg freezing in women’s benefits packages, but what other options are there for innovation in the workplace? What’s failing about current systems, and who’s doing anything to improve the status quo for women?
This event will explore the system-wide changes needed, and current innovations having an impact in the workplace. Our panellists include:
Professor Anne Phillips, Graham Wallas Professor of Political Science in the Department of Government, The London School of Economics and Political Science. Anne is a leading figure in feminist political theory, and writes on issues of democracy and representation, equality, multiculturalism, and difference.
Nicki Sprinz, Business Director at digital product studio ustwo and Co-founder of Ada’s List– a global community of women working in or around the internet, whose goal is to create a safe environment for women in the industry where they can talk off the record about professional, tech and science-related topics. Nicki is committed to finding ways to improve diversity in tech companies, and challenging the status quo for women.
Yvonne Roberts, award-winning journalist, writer and broadcaster. Yvonne is a leader writer for The Observer and has written for every broadsheet covering social policy, politics, investigations, features and comment. She has written four novels and three non-fiction books on gender and family policy.
Kathryn Nawrockyi, Gender Equality Director at Business in the Community (BITC). The BITC gender equality campaign empowers employers to accelerate change for women in the workplace. Kathryn is co-author of Project 28-40, the largest ever UK study of women at work. With over 25,000 responses to this national study, Project 28-40 gives real insight into women’s experiences at work.
