SPA London Regional Conference & Awards

18 November, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

A day of events for the Student Press Association. Speakers include:
Fiona Webster (How to get into journalism): Head of Press Association Training. As a freelance journalist Fiona has been published in The Times, Sun, Sunday Mirror, Mail on Sunday, Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Daily Mail, Telegraph, Guardian, Sunday Times & Daily Express.
Jem Collins (Being a freelancer): Jem is a professional video, online and social media journalist with several years of experience at both a local and national level. She also currently works for RightsInfo.
Martin Stabe (Interactive & Data Journalism): Martin is head of Interactive News at the Financial Times. He manages a team of journalists, designers and web developers who create new digital storytelling formats, including multimedia stories, interactive news applications and podcasts for the FT.
Mattie Taylor (Digital Newsroom Development): Since graduating Queen Mary, Matt has been a freelance sub-editor, digital production editor and now digital development editor at The Times.
News Associates (Breaking News): An alternative to a masters in journalism/ PA training – news associates train journalists once they’ve graduated and before they can enter newsrooms. They’re going to do a practical breaking news simulation (I’ve been to one and they are great fun).
Alastair Reid (Social Media Journalism): Alastair is currently a Social Media journalist for Press Association. Previously he was Managing Editor of First Draft News & Editor at Journalism News.
Tickets are only £5.90 which is such a bargain for so much networking!
