One Eye on the Past
21 August, 2016 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

The evolution of the eye had a profound effect on the course of animal life. Unfortunately, the soft delicate tissues of the eye rarely ever fossilise, making it difficult for scientists to build a clear picture of the evolution of vision in long-extinct animals. Join a Museum scientist to explore the beautiful and ancient trilobite fossils – some of which contain remarkably well-preserved eyes – and find out how scientists can use fossils to determine the colour of an extinct animal.
