Game Theory is a new double-bill of plays from female writer and director duo, Odessa Celt and Lois Jeary, that brings two highly topical procedures to the stage for the first time. Over the past two years the pair have been exploring the emotions and ethics surrounding the medical practices of hymenoplasty and genomic sequencing.
When the woman he first loved comes to him seeking a hymen reconstruction ahead of her wedding to another man, a successful cosmetic surgeon puts his career and his happiness on the line in this impassioned debate on the value of virginity across gender and cultural divides.
Charlie and Emma have just welcomed their son into the world, and must immediately grapple with whether or not to have their newborn’s genome sequenced. In a world where technology has blurred the lines between what is public and private, a faultline quickly emerges between two people with very different conceptions of what it means to love and care for another.
Game Theory will play from the 31st March until the 18th April at the Tristan Bates Theatre in Covent Garden. Visit the website (below) for more details on performance days and times.
